Walks

The French Road
The pilgrims who from the North of Europa arrived at Roma walked on this percourse, so like the merchants who from Italy moved to prestigious European markets. From Canterbury in the XI century, the episcope Sigerico enterprised the walking and wrote a detailed diary on every city and percourse. He acrossed the hills which divide Lucca from Versilia and went down to Lucca, to give homage to the "Volto Santo", to go on to Altopasci, seat of the precious (for the pilgrims) Magione dell`Ordine del Tau....the walking goes on...

The wine road in Lucca
Tasting walking up and down for the hills which enclose like a precious crown, the Piana of Lucca. For a long time the village of good wine and the excellent olive oil are the background for small precious jewels of the historic villas and the small romantic "pievi". A passage of taste and art among farms, monumental villas, medieval and precious Tuscan villages.

The Gothic Line
Passage of the recent history which acrosses the Serchio Valley and goes back the hills, acrosses historic villages. A percourse where a terrible recent history entwines with a village by a generous and exuberant nature and a territory by an animated culture and linked to tradition.

Vandelli road
From the Appennino down for the Serchio Valley until to intersect the River and then again up to the Apuane among marble and beechwoods, to go down again, finally, to the sea. A beautiful and hard passage-view on natural villages of great suggestion realized in 1700 and again entirely travelable, which keeps the acctraction of an improbable and fantastic way popolated by strange magic creatures.

The Dukes road
At the top from Bagni di Lucca to "passo del Giovo", the dream of the Dukes in Lucca and Modena painted this improbable and fascinating road which goes back The Frigido Valley, coasts the "Orrido di Botri", canyon of the "Aquila Reale" and arrives at the passage from which it`s possible to go down in Emilia Romagna. Great villages...rare fauna and good restaurants!

The Volto Santo Way
Not every pilgrims directed to Rome adopted the "advices" by Sigerico. There were other passages which the Serchio Valley or went down along the valleys of its branches. The "Volto Santo" Way is one of these passages. The "marginette", the churches, the passages, the pilgrims and the Holies stories is all what attend the walker in this journay.
