An extraordinary collection, the richest and most homogeneous of Italy, better in quality and quantity even than the earthware pot collection of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.
The Foundation Terre Medicee with the Superintendent of Lucca has prepared and presented a catalog; a work that has assigned to this corpus a seal of quality and interest.
The pots were discovered in the 60's during the renovation of Palazzo Medici. They had been used by the builder as lightweight filling under the floor of the Cosimo hall.
The collection can be visited free of charge by appointment. On some tiles you can still read the emblem of the Florentine lily that gave some sort of certification to the capacity of the jar.
