For the second time in the history of the event, Viareggio's Carnival will have a commemorative stamp: the only precedent was in 1973 for the centenary.
The stamp will depict the official masks of Viareggio's Carnival, Burlamacco and Ondina, in the classic representation that has left their designer Uberto Bonetti in the 1931 poster.
"An acknowledgement of the deep symbolic value - said the Mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro - that underlines once again the great attention to the event by the Ministry of Economic Development and attests to the shared determination to promote and safeguard the artistic and cultural heritage of Viareggio".
In support of the issue it will be realized an illustrative bulletin with an article tracing the history of Viareggio's Carnival and to the delight of the many collectors will be created by the Italian Post a special folder that will contain both the stamp and the postcard.
To highlight this special postal cancellation mark will help the Philatelic Club Giacomo Puccini through its associates, who will be present during all the parades of the Carnival of Viareggio on the ground floor of Palazzo delle Muse.
